I’ve worked the last 30 years as a marketing professional, instructor, writer and business owner. Never satisfied to do just one thing, I’ve always held more than one job, and have been extremely fortunate to pursue the things I enjoy the most: writing, teaching, event-planning, community organizing, computers, anything having to do with fitness, and the common denominator of all these: helping other people improve their lives.

Currently, I’m the director of communications and community education at United General Hospital in Sedro-Woolley, Washington, adjunct faculty at Skagit Valley College (Whidbey Island Campus) in Oak Harbor, Washington, co-owner of the Concrete Theatre, owner of Encore Fitness, and president of the Concrete Chamber of Commerce, all in Concrete, Washington.  Some of these positions I’ve held for many years (20+ years at SVC), others are fairly new endeavors (my husband and I purchased the oldest theatre in Skagit County in 2009).

I’m frequently asked, “How can you do all those things at once?”  I attribute my energy level to the fact that I exercise regularly and eat healthfully, but I also have discovered three other key ingredients to success: Technology, Time Management and No TV.

I have never been one to plan my life in five- or 10-year increments, or spend a lot of time fretting about the future. I thoroughly enjoy everything I do, and seldom even differentiate between my paid jobs and volunteer work. When I stop enjoying something, or find that I can no longer do it as perfectly as I’d like, then I know it’s time to move on.

Speaking of moving on: I love to travel as much as I love to teach. I look forward to doing more of both in the years ahead. If you’re looking for a guest speaker or consultant, I hope you’ll get in touch.
